Westlake Industries Celebrates 5th Anniversary

February 2011 marks the 5th Anniversary of Westlake Industries and I am truly amazed of how quickly time does pass. It seems like it was only last week when we first opened our doors and prepared to take on the world!

Reaching a 5 Year Anniversary is considered by many to be the first significant milestone in one's life and in particular in one's business life. Reaching a milestone is often a time for pausing to reflect on past accomplishments and to look forward to what the future may bring.

The last 5 years for Westlake Industries has been filled with some challenges, our fair share of successes, a few bumps-in-the road and a lot of personal and business satisfaction. In looking back, I am most proud of what we together as a team and a company have accomplished.

High on our list is the addition of our newest production facility and new corporate offices in Burlington, Ontario. Securing this facility during tough recessionary times was somewhat of a challenge but we did it.

Obtaining the globally respected ISO, the European Union's PED and CE Mark and the American Society of Mechanical Engineers Power Piping Certifications, was another major accomplishment.

Upgrading our production capabilities with the acquisition of state-of-the-art fabrication equipment was another significant step forward. These innovative machines have allowed us to provide unparallel levels of pipe fabrication services on behalf of our global clients.

I am particularly proud of the dedicated team of professionals that we have been able to assemble over the last 5 years. Each and every one of our staff is passionate about their work and our industry. It is most satisfying to work and be associated with such an outstanding group of individuals.

It is also a very gratifying accomplishment when you receive recognition from your peers. Profit Magazine ranked Westlake Industries as one of Canada's Hot 50 Emerging Growth Companies two years in a row, 2009 and 2010. The prestigious U.S. business publication, U.S. Business Review profiled Westlake in their Spring 2010 issue reporting on how our commitment to customer service has helped the company earn a leading position in the pipe fabrication industry. It was also a great honour to have been selected a finalist in the 2009 Business Excellence Awards in the Manufacturing Category by the Burlington Chamber of Commerce.

Indeed, there have been many notable accomplishments. However, it is now time to look to the future. During the next 5 years we as a company will continue to do what we do best. We will continue to demonstrate industry leadership at all levels. We will continue to seek out and implement production innovations. We will continue to strive for the very best in manufacturing excellence and we will continue to provide industry leading customer service and satisfaction.

Our first 5 years have been tremendously exciting and gratifying. Our next 5 will be even better as we take our business to new levels of service and satisfaction for all of our clients here in Canada and around the world.
